Resting up after an exciting hunt with Jules Mercier!

Physical AppearanceM'uru is a female Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te with all of the distinguishing characteristics of that species: pointy feline ears decorated with earrings made of either gold or wolves' fangs; a long leonine tail; and green eyes that possess distinct catlike slits for pupils. Standing at just over five fulms, she is a bit on the short side in terms of height, but her body (her legs particularly) has developed a noticeable amount of muscle due to extensive physical labour and near-constant exercise: running, jogging and travelling back and forth from one city-state to another delivering pizza. Her fair skin and rounded face have also been described as "Hyuran"; but whereas M'uru herself is unsure if she really is half Hyur, her mother outright denies any rumours or speculation, asserting that her daughter is a full-blooded Miqo'te.When it comes to apparel, M'uru heavily prefers everything she wears to be in a vibrant red, giving rise to a somewhat affectionate nickname: "Lil' Red." Her most notable items are her red cap and the apron she is commonly seen wearing when working in the kitchen.⌠Distinguishing marks⌡: Pale red freckles.

PersonalityAs a woman eager to make her mark on the world, M'uru is seemingly just another youngster with a fiercely independent spirit and a catty tongue—at least on the surface. To those who have known the (in)famous "pizza cat", however, will find that while she is ambitious, M'uru is anything but typical. Extroverted and outgoing to a fault, the Miqo'te lass is a powder keg of energy keen to speak her mind and with a surprising level of depth regarding a great many topics. As befits her dynamic personality, M'uru is skittish and this shows in her behaviour. She moves fast, talks faster, and treats "patience" and "caution" as alien concepts. Intensely goal-oriented, she prioritizes getting things done expediently; but coupled with a lack of focus, and her desire to hurry can create unnecessary problems easily avoided had she simply slowed down. In addition, she is highly temperamental and can get very emotional, becoming argumentative (even combative) when faced with even mild criticism. Bursting with confidence in her own abilities, M'uru is incorrigibly headstrong and believes she can take on anything or anyone with the right amount of gusto, planning and foresight be darned.M'uru ultimately means well, even if it's not readily apparent. She is aware of her flaws and is loathed to hurt anyone, especially her friends. For the Miqo'te, every day is an opportunity to do better than before; to learn and improve.

Important items!

Kitchen knives

Slice, and dice, and do it twice! M'uru carries two steel knives crafted by blacksmith Castle Stoneforge inlaid with opal. Whether for cutting salami or a bandit getting too close for comfort, their sharpened blades get the job done efficiently.

GTome Ver. 1.0 All-purpose Magitek Multitool

Modified by the Garlond Ironworks, this reverse-engineered Garlean device designed after an Allagan tomestone comes equipped with a full suite of useful features, such as a built-in camera, video recording software, and even a radio for playing music.Strangely enough, it lacks any form of short- to long-range communication—but that's what linkpearls are for.

Smoke grenades

M'uru keeps several specially made grenades on her at all times that, when deployed, emit a cloud of obscuring smoke that spreads over a range of several yalms. Quite handy when she needs to make a hasty exit.

Skills!

☆= Poor | ☆☆= Average | ☆☆☆= Good | ☆☆☆☆= Excellent | ☆☆☆☆☆= Mastery

Cooking ☆☆☆☆

Food is one of M'uru's passions, and her natural skill in the culinary arts is a match for any of the Bismarck's finest chefs. She can cook up all kinds of savoury dishes given the right ingredients; sandwiches, soups, sweet meats, desserts—and her legendary Puku pizzas, of course!

Speed and agility ☆☆☆

M'uru is as fast as a coeurl when on foot, able to sprint for bells and cover yalms of terrain without stopping thanks to her powerful legs. When it comes to speedy deliveries, there ain't no swifter cat.

Stealth and evasion ☆☆☆

The wilds of Eorzea are hazardous places teeming with nasty surprises, and experience has shown M'uru that it's best to cut and run when the odds are stacked against you. Using her familiarity with the land, she can easily evade detection whilst moving silently.

Self-defence ☆☆

Growing up in Lominsa has taught M'uru how to defend herself with a largely improvised "knifeboxing" style that utilizes rapid-fire kicks followed up by quick blade slashes. Wild and crude with somewhat awkward movements, it nonetheless dispatches most threats: pirates, hungry wolves, your mom.

Hooks and Hearsay!

🍕

"Ready to take your order!"

Current hooks🍕⌠Pizza delivery⌡:
Being Eorzea's #1 pizza delivery girl, Uru is all too happy to deliver some freshly baked goodness to your doorstep, or wherever your character happens to be! Just give her a call on your linkpearl, and she'll be there in thirty minutes or less! Just make sure you actually pay her for services rendered, of course.
🍲⌠Food⌡:
If your character is a chef, or simply knows how to cook, they'll have M'uru's attention. Talk to her about foreign cuisine, new ways to prepare crab cakes, or how to spice up a familiar recipe. Whether it's seafood, drinks, or even something deliciously unique, M'uru is eager to learn (and eat)!
👨🍳⌠The Bismarck⌡:
That the pizza cat was a former student at the Culinarian's Guild, where she tutored under the ever-rigourous Lyngsath Doesfalksyn, may prove to be an interesting topic of discussion for past alumni wishing to reconnect.
💵⌠Business⌡:
M'uru is eager to support her fellow small business owners through personal patronage, or even through mutual promotions. If your character owns a trade, they may find a customer in M'uru—and perhaps a future business partner.
✉️⌠Courier work⌡:
Pizza isn't the only thing M'uru delivers: mail, parcels, packages of a suspicious weight and dimension, you name it—if you need it moved, and moved fast, she'll get it there no questions asked.
🗼⌠Places of interest⌡:
Delivering to so many places around Eorzea alone has given M'uru a major case of wanderlust, so simply having somewhere interesting to take her to can be a hook in and of itself—even a stroll through Eastern La Noscea can turn into an unexpected adventure.
Just, please... avoid suggesting someplace seedy such as a dive bar, a speakeasy, or—Twelve forbid—a nightclub as potential locations: amongst other things, she is wary of the very questionable clientele who frequent such venues.

Rumours:
( A.k.a, reviews left from past customers.)

"Me team and I found ourselves stranded in the middle o' nowheres after them damn qiqirn robbed us blind, stripping our wains of er'rything we had—including our rations. One call to Puku's and Lil' Red came ridin' up to our location with several boxes of pepperoni-and-cheese pizza, saving us all from cannabilizin' each other (three days without grub would make anyone desperate). She even managed to get a Yellowjacket patrol to escort us back to Aleport, and with enough pizza to spare for the next trip!"
- Sunward Lily, Lominsan caravanner
"Our party had just recently cleared out some ancient ruin deep within Southern Thanalan, loading up on as much treasure we could carry out—and what better way to celebrate victory back at camp than with some pizza? M'uru was there in less than ten minutes with our orders, and we feasted like kings the whole night; even gave her some of our loot as payment. Excellent service, would recommend!"

Chapter One: Beneath a Blue Sun
April 2021 - Ongoing

With Puku Pizza's official parlour opened in the Mists, M'uru and the crew prepare to serve the people of La Noscea with delicious oven-baked goodness—but when a mysterious figure from her family's past shows up demanding a debt once owed by her father, M'uru finds herself contending with the infamous Blue Krakens pirate gang, and one of their most powerful lieutenants: Ourant de Eulaphoix.

Chapter One

"Open for Business!"Location: Puku Pizza Parlour, The Mists, Vylbrand
Date: 12/4/2021

With the funds secured from her previous deliveries, M'uru's dream of owning her own pizza parlour would be realized when she and her friend/ex-vice president, Cordelia Harper, renovated Room 77 of the Topmasts into an apartment-sized restaurant. Almost immediately, they would see business from a modest handful of customers—including Bozjan-Hingashi samurai and future employee, Okuyo Azhnik.Several months since its initial opening, and Puku Pizza's fame would continue to grow, with the parlour itself becoming a semi-popular eatery and venue known throughout Eorzea as the place for good pizza; Kiba Saberfang and Habu Hidori, regular patrons turned employees, were among the many new faces attracted. To celebrate its success, the crew later gathered for the parlour's first photoshoot to commemorate a joyous new beginning for Puku Pizza.

"A Father's Burden"Location: Puku Pizza Parlour, The Mists, Vylbrand
Date: 18/4/2021 - 22/5/2021

After returning from an eventful trek through Eastern La Noscea, M'uru and her fellow Puku Pirates would be greeted by an initially cordial figure: Ourant de Eulaphoix, an Ishgardian-born pirate affiliated with the infamous "spice"-dealing Blue Krakens of Limsa Lominsa (and several other "important organizations"). But while the Elezen had a history with M'uru's family, he was clearly no friend, and tried to extort seventy-five million gil from her—the amount her estranged father, N'jaeda Tia, apparently owed the Krakens. Rather than accept this outrageous debt, the Puku Pirates instead trounced the predaceous collector, with Okuyo forcefully showing him the door.Unfortunately, this would not be the last they would see of Ourant, and he returned but a month later with a vengeance. A trap was laid for the Puku crew when they entered the parlour, and they soon found themselves under attack by a modified rook that shredded the pizzeria in a hailstorm of bullets: a reminder why it's not wise to cross a well-connected privateer with a grudge. Tragically M'uru's mother, Mura, was heavily injured in the assault, leaving her with precious moments before she entered Thal's realm. Feeling that Limsa was no longer safe, M'uru and the Puku Pirates hastened for snowy Coerthas to seek aid in Ishgard.

"Return to Ishgard"Location: Republic of Ishgard, Coerthas
Date: 17/10/2021

Upon receiving news that Mura had recovered significantly from her previous injuries, M'uru makes preparations to leave for Ishgard with her fellow Puku Pirates. Months had passed since the attack on the parlour, and although the memory of that day remained fresh, M'uru was nonetheless excited to bring her mother back home. They reached the hospital where Mura was being tended to, only to be greeted by three Elezen gentlemen who barred their way. Igneux, their leader, then made a startling announcement: they had kidnapped Mura before the Puku Pirates arrived, and if M'uru wished to see her again, she would have to agree to pay her father's debt—just as Ourant tried to coerce her to do before. Igneux and his goons later lead the Puku Pirates down into the Brume to discuss details in private, but a clash instead ensued between both groups after M'uru chose instead to fight; a surprise appearance from Sin—a mysterious Vieran "thaumaturge"—would tip the short battle in the Pirates' favour, allowing M'uru to interrogate Igneux about where her mother was kept: Ourant's private manse in Southern Vylbrand, the exact location of which he could not give.Having lost her mother again, M'uru gave into desperation, and it would take her friends convincing to keep the Miqo'te from doing anything drastic; like mounting a lone rescue mission. Once calmer heads prevailed, Kiba agreed to seek out information regarding Ourant's manse, while Kuromii (a new addition to the crew) and Sin remained to soothe M'uru's emotional wounds.

Side Stories

"Magic Lessons" (aka: "A Guru for M'uru")Location: Puku Pizza Parlour, The Mists and Summerford Farms, Middle La Noscea
Date: 3/6/2021 - 22/6/2021

Following the attack on her pizza parlour ("A Father's Burden") a month ago, M'uru decided it was time to better prepare herself for when Ourant and the Krakens returned; to that end, she sought out the assistance of Izumi Tsubaki, a Sharlayan scholar introduced through a mutual acquaintance in Huho Supoho, and who had aided her in a past trek through Raincatcher Gully. The two shared snacks and caught up on events before M'uru made her request: the Miqo'te wanted to learn magic—offensive magic—to which Izumi obliged, albeit with some reluctance. Two weeks passed and M'uru met Izumi at Summerford Farms where they would begin formal training, going over the basics of aether manipulation. Joining them would be Narengal Kagon, another of Izumi's pupils. M'uru was given a chance to demonstrate her own mastery over magic after following her teacher's example, ultimately finding the rigours of spellcasting extremely taxing. Nevertheless, M'uru's first foray into thaumaturgy ended successfully with several destroyed target dummies... and a very upset stomach.

___"The Straight and Arrow Path" ___Location: Deep Dive Expedition Co., Shirogane, Hingashi
Date: 27/8/2022

Deciding it was time to reconnect with her Kintsugi Fray compatriots after several months of absence, M'uru scheduled a trip to visit the merry band's chief provisioner and head of exploratory missions, Jules Mercier, at her home in Shirogane which also served as the headquarters of the Deep Dive Expedition, Co., an independent hunting/exploratory business she ran.Aside from a lighthearted spat concerning the validity of anchovies on pizza (which M'uru was quite vocal about), their conversation remained a cordial one—until M'uru revealed the true purpose of her visit by requesting how to handle a bow, citing the unwieldiness of firearms and the Miqo'te's own distaste in using blades for primary defence as reasons for her taking interest. Jules, being a master archer herself, agreed to offer lessons on one condition: that she'd be allowed any pizza of her desire—including ones topped with anchovies, to which M'uru begrudgingly agreed. The two women next wrapped up their plans by deciding that Eastern La Noscea would make an ideal location for initial lessons, where apkallu roamed in abundance. In addition to firing a bow, Jules elaborated she would also teach the young Miqo'te how to hunt with one.

___"Hunting for a New Lease on Life" ___Location: Bloodshore, Eastern La Noscea
Date: 7/9/2022

The big day had finally come for both M'uru and Jules, with the two women meeting up at the later's estate for their scheduled hunt, but not before getting into yet another friendly spat over the viability of certain toppings on pizza. To prepare for M'uru's first outing, Jules presented her with a training bow and outfit in green—a colour she did not take a liking to—to hunt and blend in with the environment. Once full equipped, the two made their way to Costa del Sol via aetheryte, trekking deep into Bloodshore. The day began with Jules instructing M'uru in how to handle her new bow, beginning with proper stance, nocking, and aiming, using a nearby palm tree for target practice until she was familiar with the weapon. They next travelled further afield to begin tracking—and hunting—their chosen quarry: apkallu. Instructed by Jules, M'uru felled one of the cloudkin after much hesitation, scoring her first kill... and immediately overcome by regret for the deed. It took Jules reassuring her that the apkallu did not die needlessly to bring M'uru out of her brief depressive state, and after collecting the slain bird, the pizza cat cheekily promised that its meat would be put to good use—as a topping for a pineapple pizza.

Liberty Industries

"Fallgourd Escort"
A Liberty Industries adventure
Location: Coerthas Central Highlands, Coerthas
Date: 11/03/2021 - 11/03/2021

M'uru's first outing with Liberty Industries has them accepting a most unusual request: escorting the estranged son of a minor Ishgardian house seeking to escape the abuse suffered at the hands of his father. Agreeing to his plight, they disguised the boy as a mere traveller—using M'uru's Puku Pizza carriage to further the ruse—and made their way out of the city proper, under cover of a heavy blizzard. Midway through their journey, their progress was unexpectedly halted by a company of temple knights who had been sent by the lad's father to retrieve him, forcing everyone into a short skirmish that fortunately ended with no one hurt—and the knights themselves rendered unconscious so as to avoid an international incident. They would reach the relative safety of the Twelveswood soon after, entering Fallgourd Float—their intended destination. After receiving much-appreciated thanks from the nobleman's son for a successful rescue (and the chance at a new life), M'uru helped prepare lunch for the team before they set out again.

Kintsugi Fray

"A Whole Lotta Morbol"
A Kintsugi Fray adventure
Location: The Dravanian Hinterlands, Dravania, Coerthas
Date: 16/03/2022 - 19/03/2022

After being accepted into the Kintsugi Fray sky pirates (with a brief tour of their airship, The Volkin), M'uru rendezvoused with several of their members in Idyllshire as they made preparations for her first assignment with the crew: collecting several alchemical ingredients on behalf of an anonymous client—including morbol vines, much to her chagrin. Nevertheless, she made preparations with her fellow sky pirates, and together they set out into the Dravanian Hinterlands. It would take almost a full day before they collected half of the items on their list, with a few trials impeding their progress, including battling a biloko and belladonna pair that left two of their group (including M'uru) briefly polymorphed into korpikkurs. Moving deeper into the Hinterlands, the group successfully tracked their final quarry, the morbols and their vines, at the seedkins' nesting area. Another fierce battle ensued between the Fray and the morbol den mother, with M'uru helping to land the final blow which brought her down by providing a distraction. With the vines collected, everyone returned to The Hard Place for a mission accomplished—and for M'uru, a sense of personal achievement.

"Curse of the Seaward Soldier"
A Kintsugi Fray adventure
Location: The Volkin, Limsa Lominsa, Vylbrand
Date: 24/03/2022

When a series of mysterious and sudden wintery storms forces The Volkin into an emergency stop in Limsa Lominsa, its crew was left with no choice but to brave the now frigid air outside and assess damages. However, this would not be the end of their woes, as the Fray would later have to deal with an aetherial water spirit who had somehow taken control of their ship. After damaging its piping to flood The Volkin, it became a race against time to reach the central control room and reactivate the automated repair systems before the ship could be entirely drowned.Once The Volkin was safe from further flooding, everyone descended into the airship's workshop for a final confrontation with the water spirit. There it awaited them in the form of a possessed Allond Andrekson, an old friend of the Fray's captain, Nephrite Wilk. A battle commenced, and though Allond proved a formidable opponent, he was finally slain after a lengthy confrontation, sparing the Fray and their prized airship from a watery grave.

Hunts

"Make My Pizza Grow, Grow, GROW!"Target: Azeyma's Claw
Location: Raincatcher Gully, Eastern La Noscea
Date: 16/4/2021

M'uru summons the Puku Pizza Pirates—Okuyo Azhnik, Bullet Hughes, Kiba Saberfang—into the parlour, where they were later joined by aetherologists (and later associates) Prof. Huho Supoho and Izumi Tsubaki of the magick research organization, Liberty Industries. Once all had been gathered, M'uru explained their mission: they were to find Azeyma's Claw, a rare herb said to only be found growing within the jungles of Eastern La Noscea; Raincatcher Gully, specifically. M'uru believed that the herb, when added to a growth formula, would increase the size of her pizzas, saving her the effort in making giant ones like the SUPREME.The party makes for Wineport and leaves shortly afterwards, where they are joined by two others: O'kai Nuhn and his mustachioed accomplice, B'hettu Tia. With their team now eight, they venture deep into Eastern La Noscea and split up to cover more ground. M'uru eventually finds several Azeyma's Claws; but in her haste to celebrate, she unwittingly alerts a pack of three territorial goobues who give chase, forcing her and Oku to retreat back to the party's meeting point. Everyone engages the beastkin who are eventually slain after a lengthy battle; but not before Oku himself was left seriously injured, struck across the chest by a goobue's arm. Another pack arrive only to be driven off by the sudden roar of some larger beast in the distance—the party's cue to leave the jungle while they were able to.On their way back to Wineport, the party encounters the desecrated corpses of three gigantoads: each one was burned to a crisp by aetherial fire and with massive chunks ripped out of their flesh. Uru surmises this was the work of the monster whose roar drove the other goobues away; Huho additionally believes the culprit to be a dragon, one roosted near Brayflox's Longstop. Choosing to investigate the matter another time, everyone returns to Limsa safely.

"Big Trouble in Little La Noscea"Target: Large Buffalo
Location: Costa del Sol, Eastern La Noscea
Date: 22/5/2021

Everyone gathers into the parlour to be debriefed about the situation in Costa del Sol—that the nearby buffalo have become unusually more aggressive—and what this has to do with Puku Pizza. M'uru happily answers that she intends to use several cuts of meat from the buffalo to cook as toppings for a new pizza style. After loading up her carriage with traps, the Puku Pirates departed for Costa del Sol.The team head down to the resort where they are greeted by a soldier of the Maelstrom who initially brushes them off as tourists, relenting only after the Pirates strongly convinced him otherwise. The soldier directed them to where the buffalo were sighted and gave the bounty for proof of each kill: two-hundred thousand gil paid from Master Gegeruju's coffers. Moving further afield to where the buffalo were rampaging, the Pirates set up an ambush—with M'uru going in as bait, much to Okuyo's objection. She lured several of the beastkin into the traps which failed to spring, forcing everyone into a gruelling battle; they next had to slay the herd's ivory-toned "alpha", cutting a few slices of beef from its carcass afterwards. With both meat and trophies secured, the Pirates collect their reward and return to the parlour in triumph.

Family 'n' Friends!

🍕

What's a pizza girl without a bunch of friends (or enemies) to join her on deliveries? From longtime chums to passing acquaintances, these are the helpful—and not so helpful—pals 'n' gals who've lent their aid to Mariya in one way or another.

👪 = Family · 🎎 = Friends and acquaintances · ❔ = Unsure · 😈 = Enemies and rivals

Kobayashi Haruko (小林 治子)
👪

- Forty-seven- Highly traditional- Great conversationalist; wealthy clientele necessitated good speaking skills- A master of song and dance; plays the shamisen like nobody's business- Has written over four-hundred unique haiku detailing ordinary life- Loves a good matcha tea

Haruko Kobayashi is Mariya's Hingan-born mother, though one would be forgiven for believing otherwise: despite entering her forty-seventh winter, she appears twice as young, a fact she readily attributes to the kami's blessings and a good diet (including daily consumption of matcha tea). A former rising star amongst Kugane's geiko, her rather promising career was inadvertedly cut short when the man who would become Mariya's father convinced the Eastern beauty to follow him westward to Eorzea—a decision she remains regretful of even to this day.Demure and proper, Haruko holds steadfast to the cultural traditions of her native home to a fault, with her staunch conservatism often interpreted as a "quasi-rebellion" against assimilation into Lominsan life, standing in direct contrast to the more headstrong Mariya. Nevertheless, she adores her daughter greatly and supports the pizza girl in her endeavours as only a loving okā-san can... even if her affection can be cloying at times.

Puku (ブク)
👪

- Four years old- Fat- Unknown breed - could be tabby, could be tiger, could be coeurl- Will eat almost anything

The main man, the star of the show, it's Puku: Mariya's mischievous and seriously adorable side-kitten for whom her pizza delivery business is named after! This corpulent cat was found as a baby whilst out on a delivery and the two have become inseparable ever since, with Puku never straying too far from his master whenever she's out and about, though he may briefly wander away whenever his wee nose catches the scent of something yummy.Spry, outgoing and more than a little adventurous, Puku embodies the selfsame qualities as Mariya, particularly her love of pizza—especially eating it!

Daniel Forrester
👪 ❔ 😈

- Unknown age; early-to-late 40s at most- Literal man of mystery- Limsa Lominsa-based sailor with ties to criminals; alleged to have been involved in "spice trading", arms smuggling, counterfeiting, and human trafficking- Runner-up for "Worst Dad Ever"

Edward Forrester is Mariya's now-missing father, though perhaps calling him "father" is being too generous: such an enigma was he that she questions if he was even her real parent. A comparatively upright Lominsan in a city renowned for its lawlessness, he nonetheless counted thieves, pirates, smugglers and other shadier sorts amongst his connections—connections which allegedly also included Garleans. At the same time, her mother remembered him as a suave charmer fluent in multiple languages, with "love" being the one which won her heart, whilst Mariya meanwhile remembered him for the amazing stories he'd share of his voyages across the sea... alas, this is where the fond memories end. His sudden disappearance left his family with unanswered questions, a mountain of debt—and a boatload of trouble which later followed.Nowadays, Mariya never speaks of Mr. Forrester except with bitterest contempt. Sometimes though, she oft wonders where dear ol' pa has run off to and whether or not she could find him... if only to beat the man senseless.

Trivial trivia!

🍕

Small tidbits of info and other fun facts about M'uru that were too inconsequential to include in the bio section.

- M'uru once thought about being a pirate and would have called her hypothetical crew "Puku's Pirates." The logistics involved, competition from other crews, and the lack of an actual boat made her give up that dream. She does call her fellow parlour employees the Puku Pirates as a term of affection, however.- An avid reader of The Harbor Herald, M'uru has been subscribed to the paper for several years and has never once missed an issue, relying on its articles to keep abreast of goings-on in the world. She especially loves the gossip section, "Dympna's Catch of the Day", and most articles by reporter Petyr Winsome.- Amongst her personal book collection is a copy of the Raimdelle Codex and—curiously enough—the Enchiridion, the official text of the Halonic Orthodox Church.- M'uru is a vexillophile—a lover of flags—and she keeps each one she finds in a special "flag box" inside her house.- M'uru is a fan of airships! She can't decide whether Garlond Ironworks or Highwind Skyways has the better designs, however.- While acknowledging the Twelve, M'uru doesn't pay particular reverence to them aside from acknowledging that They exist "somewhere out there."- In contrast to Lominsans' cultural fondness for drink, M'uru is a noted teetotaler.- Despite never having seen them, and only learning of their exploits from afar, M'uru nonetheless has a small crush on the Warrior of Light.- Coincidentally, M'uru's name is phonetically similar to the Old Dalmascan1 word "nūru", which means "fire/light"—rather appropriate given her personality.

1 Actually real life Akkadian, but it's a personal headcanon of mine that the Old Dalmascan language was Semitic-inspired given Dalmasca's real-world influence.

'Ello!M'uru's player, here. My name is [REDACTED], I'm an ex-community college student well over the legal drinking age whose interests include traditional Hispanic music and long romantic walks to the fridge, who uses roleplay both as a creative outlet for writing and a temporary escape from mundane drudgery. I just want to thank you, the curious reader, for taking the time to read M'uru's carrd even if we never actually roleplay—your interest is appreciated nonetheless.Have a great day, and I hope to see you around! Feel free to grab a slice before you go: 🍕

My preferences.- Overall desire: Low-to-medium power level roleplay with a focus on the mundane and (somewhat) ordinary. Adventure and exploration with some combat also acceptable.- Walk-up: If my <<RP>> tag is on, then I'm currently IC (in-character) and am free to be interacted with. Send me a /tell if you'd like M'uru to come up to your character if you're shy, or if you'd like to discuss ideas in private. (If I don't respond, I'm likely AFK.)- Posting style: Short posts with a focus on dialogue complimented by in-game emotes. I may write more depending on both mood and present company, but I highly prioritize momentum over meeting some arbitrary paragraph length.- In-game RP: All of my RP is done in-game. Discord RP is heavily discouraged outside of providing supplementary materials (letters, pictures, those sort of things).- Time limit: While this can be flexible, I prefer to keep RP sessions limited to 2-4 hours tops: anything more than that will drain both my energy, attention and continued interest.

Likes. (Stuff that I want...)- ✔️Open-world RP: While meeting up in an inn is fine for an initial introduction, there is still a living, breathing world out there. From the beaches of Costa del Sol to the dense jungles of Kozama'uka and beyond, there is little excuse to be wiling away our time sinking in the Quicksand.- ✔️Thematic balance: I like RP that mixes up different themes and "genres" without dipping into extremes: comedy, exploration, cozy slice-of-life moments, even a little action here and there. Tonal variance keeps things from becoming too monotonous.- ✔️Lore adherence: Debates over what is and isn't "lore-friendly" aside, if it's acceptable—or plausible—enough for the setting, I'm perfectly okay with it. Elements which veer too far from FFXIV's canon is a no-go for me.- ✔️Content: RP is great, but if we could divide our time with other activities every once and awhile, that'd be even better. Raiding, treasure maps, mount farming—you name it, I'm typically down.

Tentative. (... stuff that I might want...)- ❔ Romance: A tricky subject to broach, and one I don't particularly care for, but if you want to actually try your hand at courting the pizza cat, the option is there; just be prepared for potential rejection. With that said, while romance may be on the menu, ERP (erotic roleplay) is not.Just... please don't start hitting on me outside of RP. Seriously, don't.- ❔Dark themes: I mean, I guess? If the situation calls for things to get a lil' dark, then it's alright with me. Just don't go all Game of Thrones on me where everything has to be cynical and morally debased.

Dislikes. (... and stuff that I don't.)- ❌Permadeath and injury without consent: Pretty self-explanatory. You wouldn't hurt an innocent pizza delivery girl for no reason, would you?- ❌Tabletop gaming: Anything more intricate than a simple dice roll to decide outcomes gets boring real quick for me. Leave the character sheets and homebrew RPG mechanics in Dungeons & Dragons.- ❌Purple prose: Detailed writing is great and I admire an expansive vocabulary, but excessively flowery prose is a major turn-off. If flexing your writing chops is more important than actually roleplaying, I'll have to pass.- ❌Extreme edge: Yeah, no. Miss me with one-dimensional edgelords who think excessive swearing and gratuitous violence equals "cool."- ❌"Unique" characters: M'uru may meet some interesting people, but your half-dragon sea witch from another universe may be best appreciated by someone else.- ❌MSQ crossovers: Aymeric, Minfillia, the Warrior of Light and their associates—M'uru's not delivering pizza to anyone from the main story, no ifs, ands, or buts. This also goes for RPing as "distant relatives": Alphinaud's third cousin twice removed, Count Edmont's bastard daughter, etc.- ❌Other dimensions: Until the existence of other planets becomes common knowledge, M'uru will treat Hydaelyn (or [REDACTED] as some weirdos call it) as the only one that exists and will look askance at anyone suggesting otherwise.

On the topic of lunar seahorses...

Like almost every roleplayer these days, I use Mare Synchronos for those who also have it; we can exchange moon codes if asked*. Not much of a m*dder myself, so what you see in-game is what you get—I like looking vanilla.

(( *With one caveat: don't look too ridiculous. A custom hairstyle is one thing—looking like a full-on modbeast1 is another. If it breaks my immersion, I break the pair-up. ))

1modbeast (n.) - an overly-modified character customized to such a degree they now look wildly out of place with the rest of the game. Some examples: (1), (2), (3)
